Your Role

We are seeking an experienced Associate Counsel to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in litigation, with expertise in medical malpractice, personal injury, or mass torts law. They will be responsible for assisting our managing lawyers, conducting legal research, and preparing for trials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist managing lawyers in advancing litigation
  • Conduct intake meetings and interviews with new clients and prospective clients
  • Analyze medical records, cases, policies, and other documents
  • Perform legal research
  • Prepare for and attend legal proceedings, including discovery, mediation, and trial
  • Consult and communicate with medical experts
  • Prepare, write, and argue legal documents and pleadings
  • Communicate with clients, team members, and medical professionals
  • Participate in trial preparation and attend trials in various capacities

Requirements

  • 2+ years of litigation experience preferred
  • Understanding of medical malpractice, personal injury, or mass torts law an asset
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Willingness to learn from senior lawyers to meet client needs
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Resourceful and solution-oriented individual
  • Confident and driven
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability
  • Sound planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Some courtroom experience a plus
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LL.B. degree required
