About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Housing Support Specialist to join our team at Good Shepherd Centres. As a key member of our supportive housing program, you will play a vital role in providing respectful and appropriate trauma-informed care to individuals in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct service to tenants, including case management, crisis intervention, and supportive counseling.
  • Work collaboratively with a dynamic team to enhance the dignity and quality of life for adults in a supportive housing setting.
  • Utilize best practices in trauma-informed care to establish trust and promote client engagement.
  • Participate in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs and procedures to minimize risk to clients, staff, and others.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in social or health sciences.
  • Two years' work-related experience, particularly with individuals who experience homelessness, require supportive housing, or struggle with problematic substance use and mental health.
  • Knowledge of the Social Service system and Community Resources to make appropriate referrals.
  • Working knowledge of the Social Determinants of Health and ability to positively support tenants within those parameters.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Harm Reduction best practices, including overdose prevention strategies.
  • Understanding of the importance of healthy diverse communities and community development approaches.
  • Proficient computer skills in various software platforms.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset.
  • Valid Driver's license is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
