The College of New Caledonia is seeking a facilities maintenance specialist to join its Facilities Services team. As a skilled trades technician, you will be responsible for performing a wide variety of tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing and gas systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Install, maintain, and repair plumbing and gas systems
  2. Conduct preventative maintenance on plumbing and gas systems
  3. Monitor industry standards and technologies
  4. Participate in construction and renovation planning
  5. Evaluate blueprints and schematic drawings
  6. Ensure regulatory compliance
  7. Manage work orders and record time and materials
  8. Obtain prices for materials
  9. Maintain tools and equipment
  10. Meet deadlines and minimize disruption to affected areas

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 diploma
  • Journeyman Plumber and Gas Fitter Certification
  • Five years' experience as a journeyman plumber/gas fitter, preferably in an institutional environment or large building complex
  • Back-flow prevention testing experience
  • HVAC equipment knowledge
  • Judgement, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Tool and equipment operation
  • Blueprint reading
  • Autonomy and independence
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Computer proficiency (asset)
  • Occupational First Aid Level 2 certification (if required)
  • Valid driver's license (Class 5), may require upgrading to Class 2
  • Bonding requirements
