Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Tax Dispute Manager to join our Tax Controversy team. As a trusted advisor, you will assist clients with the prevention, management, and resolution of disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Revenu Quebec (RQ).

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of professionals and contribute to their growth and development.
  • Mentor, motivate, and coach team members to achieve professional and personal goals.
  • Oversee tax dispute files from start to finish, developing effective strategies and representing clients before RQ and CRA.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients, providing timely and effective advice.
  • Collaborate with tax specialists, accountants, and other professionals to deliver high-quality services to clients.
  • Manage engagement planning, scheduling, and project financials, including budgets, billing, collection, and variance recognition.
  • Identify tax issues, research complex situations, and develop practical solutions.
  • Maintain high standards of quality control and stay up-to-date on new jurisprudence and taxation law developments.
  • Network in the local business community, identify business development opportunities, and contribute to proposal preparation and delivery.
  • Develop innovative ideas and approaches to improve work processes.

Requirements

  • CPA designation or degree in law (Member of the Bar)
  • In-depth Tax Course or a Master's in Tax
  • 6-7 years of tax controversy/litigation experience
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal income tax and proficiency in tax research
  • Tax planning, compliance, accounting, or audit experience for mid-market clients is considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles
  • Proven people management, relationship building, and leadership skills
  • Bilingual (French and English)

Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience
