Job Title: Corporate Banking Analyst

Join National Bank's Financial Institutions Group as a Corporate Banking Analyst and contribute to the success of our clients in the financial markets and treasury sector.

About the Role

As a Corporate Banking Analyst, you will provide specialized support for analyzing, structuring, and originating complex corporate lending transactions. You will also be responsible for carrying out various due diligence analyses and financial data interpretation to provide the information needed to make corporate credit decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support senior members of the bank finance group on risk management and credit-based financing activities
  • Conduct financial/statistical and industry analysis as directed by senior team members on new and existing relationships
  • Prepare credit documentation materials for internal credit adjudication and loan portfolio performance monitoring
  • Participate in internal meetings and external client meetings and pitches as appropriate
  • Work within a credit capital markets team environment with interaction with colleagues in investment banking, loan syndications, and structuring, capital markets, and risk management
  • Emphasis on analysis, financial modeling, and written presentations
  • Ability to interact and build effective relationships with clients, colleagues, and other advisors
  • Develop a strong foundation of internal systems and processes and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop a deep understanding of key trends impacting the FIG sector and maintain databases tracking industry metrics and comparables
About the Team

This position reports to the Managing Director, FIG, Credit Capital Markets, based in Toronto. Our team is known for its growth and agility, working closely across other sectors of the bank, including investment banking, M&A, derivatives, and debt capital markets.

Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in economics, accounting, finance, business, or related disciplines with outstanding academic achievement
  • Related industry experience and a CPA or CFA professional designation (completed or near completion) will be an asset
  • Strong analytical abilities, including critical assessment of financial statements, financial modeling, and client reports to make sound recommendations
  • Strong attention to detail with advanced proficiency in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated problem-solving mindset, collaborative approach, and great team spirit
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
