About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Planner to join our team at Heidelberg Materials in Picton, Ontario. As a Maintenance Planner, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our plant by coordinating and scheduling maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance activities to ensure optimal plant performance and minimize downtime.
  • Develop and maintain work schedules, including prioritizing and allocating tasks to maintenance teams.
  • Monitor and evaluate maintenance programs to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
  • Collaborate with production and other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Develop and maintain files and records related to maintenance activities, including equipment lists, supplier information, and maintenance history.
  • Oversee the availability of parts and materials for maintenance activities, working closely with the stores department.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual maintenance budget and develop long-term goals and objectives to meet plant operational and cost containment goals.
  • Support maintenance projects by identifying parts, tools, and manpower requirements, and estimating completion times.
  • Review maintenance costs and recommend areas for cost reduction.
  • Facilitate daily, weekly, and monthly planning meetings to recommend necessary repairs and provide ongoing maintenance support to the plant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of maintenance or production experience, preferably in a cement plant environment.
  • Prior experience supervising staff and leading maintenance teams.
  • Solid understanding of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance principles and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate others, and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience working with large rotating heavy industry machinery and equipment, and familiarity with SAP for maintenance purposes.
