About the Role

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is a key member of our team at BGIS, responsible for performing maintenance and repair services on non-technical facility components. This includes general handyman-type work such as walls, floors, and other non-technical components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair services on non-technical facility components
  • Conduct regular facility and facility non-technical component monitoring and inspection
  • Provide observations about facility conditions and deficiencies and suggest enhancements and repairs
  • Respond to routine and on-demand service requests
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair work to non-technical components within the facility
  • Record resolution data within the service maintenance management database
  • Assist in the implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) programs
  • Participate in and assist with facility-related projects
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines related to environmental, health, and safety, fire protection, and other applicable requirements

Requirements

  • High school education
  • Minimum 1-3 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience
  • Trade-related training an asset
  • Ability to adhere to and properly execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair non-technical facility components
  • Ability to provide observations about facility conditions and deficiencies and suggest enhancements and repairs
  • Ability to research, learn, and gain greater proficiency in applying on-the-job fire, life, safety, and building codes and standards
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset and ability to perform work in a safe manner
  • Strong client-service orientation and high sense of urgency
  • Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification
  • Demonstrates an interest in enrolling and completing a trades certification or license, or beginning to work towards a trades certification or license
  • Valid driver's license
