Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Definition Engineer to join our team at Power Integrations, Inc. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for defining and developing innovative power IC products with cutting-edge features.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Definition: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and develop new power IC products, ensuring they meet customer requirements and company goals.
  • Design Verification and Characterization: Participate in the design verification testing and characterization of first-sample ICs in the lab, including high-voltage GaN-based ICs.
  • Simulation and Emulation: Implement simulation/emulation tools for new product definitions, ensuring accurate and efficient design validation.
  • IC Design Support: Cooperate with the IC design team to ensure the IC implementation meets system requirements, providing technical support and guidance as needed.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed internal and external technical documentation on product definitions and specifications.
  • Applications Support: Collaborate with the applications team to facilitate acceptance and design-in of Power Integrations IC products.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputable university.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of power conversion topologies, including flyback, forward, PFC, and LLC topologies.
  • Wide Bandgap Devices: Understanding of SiC or GaN characterization and performance comparison.
  • Laboratory Skills: Practical bench skills and confident user of lab equipment, with an appreciation for cost/performance trade-offs in SMPS design for cost-sensitive, high-volume applications.
  • Magnetics Design: Knowledge and experience in magnetics design is preferred.
  • Control Loop Theory: Good understanding of control loop theory and practice in the context of switch-mode power supplies.
  • EMC and Electrical Safety: Familiarity with international EMC and electrical safety regulations and circuit techniques to achieve compliance at minimal BOM cost.
  • Software Tools: Proficiency with software tools such as Matlab, Mathcad, Simplis/Simetrix, and PLECs.
  • Technical Documentation: Demonstrated ability to write accurate and concise technical documentation, including bench evaluations and simulation results.
