Job Summary

The AV Group NB is seeking a skilled Electrical and Instrumentation Technician to join our team. As a key member of our E&I team, you will be responsible for performing routine plant maintenance, implementing improvement projects, and ensuring the reliability of our electrical and automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and automation equipment, including MCCs, switchgears, motors, generators, VFDs, DCS, and PLCs.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning electrical and control systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on lighting and power distribution systems.
  • Inspect and perform reliability tasks, including motor cleanliness and lubrication, thermography, and control loop tuning.
  • Route and install power and control cables and cable trays to feed new equipment.
  • Program and maintain VFDs, DCS, and PLCs.
  • Identify and correct deficiencies with respect to relevant codes and specifications.
  • Participate in business improvement initiatives, such as reliability improvement and capital projects.
  • Perform routine daily electrical and instrument work.
  • Complete shift logs of daily activities.
  • Work closely with the operations group to support day-to-day operations.
  • Complete preventative maintenance checks and work orders as assigned.
  • Must be self-motivated, results-oriented, and flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Recommend improvements to procedures, standards, and practices as part of our continuous improvement.
  • Shift work and overtime may be required.
  • Working at heights and confined spaces.

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

  • Journeyperson status in Industrial Electrical or Instrumentation Technician.
  • 3 to 4 years' experience in industrial electrical or instrumentation preferred.
  • A minimum of a Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical controls, MCCs, and power distribution equipment.
  • Knowledge of VFDs, PLC, and DCS systems.
  • Experience in an industrial plant an asset.
  • Adequate knowledge of CMS work order systems and inventory systems.
