Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Energy Meteorologist to join our Commercial team. As an Energy Meteorologist, you will leverage your deep understanding of weather patterns and market dynamics to provide critical insights that inform our trading strategies and optimize profitability.

You will be a vital member of our team, collaborating closely with traders, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure we stay ahead of the curve in this dynamic marketplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Weather Forecasting - Apply your expertise in weather forecasting to assess risks and opportunities in the European Gas and Power markets.
  • Quantitative Modeling - Develop and implement quantitative models to predict weather patterns and their impact on energy prices.
  • Reporting and Presentation - Translate meteorological data into concise and clear reports and presentations that inform strategic decision-making across the organization.
  • Staying Up-to-Date - Stay abreast of the latest advancements in meteorological science and energy trading practices.
  • Collaboration - Collaborate effectively with the commercial team to identify and capitalize on weather-driven trading opportunities.

Requirements
  • Experience - Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Energy Meteorologist in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Market Knowledge - Strong understanding of European Gas and Power markets and their sensitivity to weather fluctuations is essential.
  • Education - Bachelor's degree in meteorology, physics, geoscience, or a related field. Expertise in numerical modeling, data analysis, and statistical methods is required.
  • Programming Skills - Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python, R, or similar. Experience building data-driven tools for the energy sector is a plus.
  • Communication Skills - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical Skills - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and result-oriented mindset.
