Job Summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in a Entry-Level Position. As a Junior Geotechnical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including transportation, power, mining, residential, commercial, and industrial developments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist senior engineers with developing and managing project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • Conduct field work and testing, including borehole drilling and/or test pit supervision, construction site review, laboratory testing, rock anchor testing, slope stability assessments (rock and soil), and installation of instrumentation.
  • Involved with construction materials testing and evaluation (e.g. field and laboratory testing of concrete, soils, and hot mix asphalt).
  • Engineering and design of geotechnical systems, including foundation design and slope stability.
  • Preparation and coordination of project specifications and construction documents.
  • Preparation of proposals and geotechnical reports.
Requirements
  • Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of geotechnical engineering, including geotechnical investigations and construction materials testing and evaluation.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Understanding of geotechnical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with GeoStudio software package would be an asset.
  • Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently within a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and to communicate effectively with technical and management personnel remotely.
  • Ability to work up to 12 hours per day, 6 days a week (weekend and overtime work may be required).
  • Available to work on out-of-town projects, typically 1 to 2 weeks but as long as 3 to 4 weeks at a time.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Previous co-op/Internship experience preferred.
