Job Title: Education Assistant - Special Education Support

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Education Assistant to provide support to students with special needs in our school district.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Principal(s) and the general supervision of the Classroom Teacher(s) to provide assistance to students who have physical disabilities, chronic health impairments, intellectual disabilities, and/or social, emotional, and behavioral problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with special needs
  • Assist students with physical disabilities, chronic health impairments, intellectual disabilities, and/or social, emotional, and behavioral problems
  • Support the achievement of stated program goals and objectives
  • Supervise a designated area either inside or outside the school, before, during, and/or after school as defined by the terms of the assignment

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 plus a special program and over six (6) months up to and including one (1) year's related experience
  • A special program would be the Capilano University Education Assistant Program
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License
  • Knowledge of basic First Aid
  • Basic knowledge of related learning tools (ie. computers, etc)
