Job Title: Marketing and Communications Coordinator

This is a key role within the University of Waterloo, responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies to promote the university's programs and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement marketing and communications plans to engage internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage the university's website and social media presence to ensure consistency and accuracy of information
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop marketing materials and communications campaigns
  • Provide strategic oversight on the use of digital communications to engage the internal and external community
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, donors, and industry partners
  • Manage and coordinate events, including recruitment events and departmental meetings
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy to promote the university's programs and services
  • Provide editorial support for web content and marketing materials
  • Collaborate with the Faculty of Engineering's Advancement and Outreach to identify goals and strategies to ensure consistent messaging
Qualifications:
  • University degree in Communications, English, Marketing or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • 2-5 years of experience in a marketing and/or communications role, experience in an educational setting considered an asset
  • Experience developing marketing and communication strategies
  • Knowledge of student recruitment marketing and enrollment management principles
  • Excellent promotional/persuasive writing and storytelling abilities with a demonstrated track record of success
  • Excellent understanding of English grammar
  • Experience with a content management system and best practices for web writing
  • Experience with providing excellent customer service
  • Familiarity with social media (video creation considered an asset)
  • Ability to build consensus and foster teamwork among a variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent presentation abilities (preparation and delivery)
