We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate Recreation Therapy Assistant to join our team at CapitalCare. As a key member of our Recreation Services team, you will provide person-centered care and support to our residents, working closely with our LPN, Recreation Therapist, and Care Manager to deliver a variety of therapeutic recreational activities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide hands-on assistance, cueing, and leadership in therapeutic recreational activities, including pet therapy, computers, and horticulture.
- Plan and lead activities, special events, and create monthly recreational calendars in collaboration with the Recreation Therapist.
- Work with residents with dementia, utilizing your knowledge of dementia and its impact on functional ability to provide effective support.
- Manage sensitive information confidentially and adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
- Graduation from a recognized Recreation Therapy Diploma program (or equivalent) is required.
- Recent experience working with residents with dementia is strongly preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and dementia is required.
