About the Position


We are seeking an experienced Senior Rotoscope/Paint Artist to join our team. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for creating complex matte elements for compositing, rig removals, and dust removals.



Key Responsibilities



  • Review Stage Elements: Collaborate with leadership to review stage elements, focusing on complex shots.
  • Communication with Compositors: Work closely with compositors to ensure requested articulate mattes and paint work meet technical and creative requirements.
  • Rotoscope Techniques: Utilize rotoscope techniques in Nuke or Silhouette to generate mattes and splines.
  • Painstaking Attention to Detail: Employ paint and compositing techniques in Nuke to produce clean plates, remove rigs and seams, or other artifacts.
  • Timely Delivery: Drive tasks to completion, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Mentorship and Quality Control: Oversee quality control of approved elements, publish and handoff your work as well as assist junior team members.
  • Development and Training: Develop training materials, mentor, and train more junior members of the roto/paint team.


Requirements and Qualifications



  • 5+ Years Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Rotoscope/Paint, preferably on feature films.
  • Stereo Vision: Strong understanding of stereoscopic principles.
  • Proficiency in Software: Experience in Silhouette and Nuke, with additional skills in Furnace and After Effects beneficial.
  • Strong Time Management and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to work efficiently and independently, manage time effectively, and tackle complex problems.


Location and Compensation


This position is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. We offer a competitive salary range of $35-$45 per hour, commensurate with experience, and require candidates to reside in the Lower Mainland region.
