Job Title: Executive Culinary Director

At Best Western Fernie Plus Mountain Lodge, we are seeking an experienced Executive Chef to join our culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining records, instructing cooks, and preparing meals in a fast-paced hotel environment.

About the Role:
This is a key leadership position within our hotel that requires strong culinary skills, excellent leadership abilities, and a proven track record of success in a similar role. As an Executive Chef at our Best Western Fernie Plus Mountain Lodge, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food preparation, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision.

Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will have a College diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, and a Cook Trade Certification. Key responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining accurate records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory.
  • Instructing cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food.
  • Preparing and cooking complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets.
  • Supervising activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs, and cooks.

Requirements:
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must possess the following qualifications:
  • A College diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • A Cook Trade Certification.

Compensation:
We offer a competitive salary range of $50,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience. This estimate includes considerations of the location (Fernie, BC) and industry standards for senior chef roles. In addition to your base salary, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as opportunities for professional development and advancement within the company.
