Job Summary

The Engineering Accreditation Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of curriculum documentation, maintaining reports on curriculum development and approval process, and coordinating with TRU's Co-op Coordinator to ensure 4th year students have met the requirements for their mandatory Co-op year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides advising services to engineering students, including engineering transfer and BEng programs.
  • Maintains the accuracy and completeness of curriculum documentation.
  • Ensures that approved academic curriculum changes are up to date and communicate changes to faculty, students, college and university transfer programs, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintains reports on curriculum development and approval process for the department.
  • Assists department Chair in managing course scheduling and timetabling.
  • Manages articulation agreements with other institutions.
  • Performs initial assessment for transfer credits of the transferring students.
  • Coordinates with TRU's Co-op Coordinator to ensure 4th year students have met the requirements for their mandatory Co-op year and others students are prepping for their mandatory Co-op terms.
  • Coordinates and maintains record of the development of successful accreditation standards and processes for the engineering degree programs.
  • Communicates with faculty members about program assessment plans and defines organizational practices to implement evaluation tools for accreditation.
  • Works in conjunction with course instructors to develop program assessment tools to ensure alignment with program goals and CEAB accreditation guidelines.
  • Writes and prepares program accreditation documents for the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board's (CEAB) review and visit.
  • Ensures appropriate processes, and documentation for CEAB accreditation and other external and internal reviews, are in place.
  • Extracts, manages and stores data from a wide range of internal and external sources, compiling and analyzing data, and performing statistical analyses of data for CEAB accreditation purposes.
  • Coordinates the accreditation review processes and document requirements by reviewing information, soliciting content from faculty members from various departments within Faculty of Science offering engineering courses and verifying its accuracy.
  • Coordinates the CEAB Accreditation Team visits.
  • Coordinates community outreach and visiting high schools to promote the program.
  • Prepares and coordinates communication with school counselors.
  • Coordinates with marketing and communication to ensure that programs have up-to-date promotional materials.
  • Coordinates with admissions to ensure that students' applications are evaluated timely by the department admission committee.
  • Communicates with potential applicants and provides information as and when required.
  • Assists in arranging promotional events in the department.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree preferably in relevant discipline or in Education.
  • Three years of related experience with demonstrated experience in educational planning, quality assurance and program accreditation.
Skills and Abilities
  • Familiarity with the educational system at the post-secondary levels.
  • Familiarity with accreditation processes and program evaluations.
  • Familiarity with Degree Quality Assurance processes and procedures.
  • Experience-working with students to advise them about professional accreditation related advice.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity are essential.
  • Must be tactful and articulate in dealing with faculty, staff and students in a multi-cultural context.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with initiative - must be a self-starter.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to make thoughtful, informed, and thorough decisions.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify key information and issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Excellent computer skills and willingness to learn to use new systems.
Working Conditions
  • Sitting at a desk and computer for periods of time.
  • Regular student contact.
  • General office conditions.
  • Some off-site travel.
  • Set-up of computer/audio visual equipment and tables and chairs at off-site locations (on an infrequent basis).
  • Ability to lift/load in excess of 20 kg.
