Job Summary:

The Medical/Surgical Neurosciences Unit (MSNU) provides care for children with cardiac disease and multiple surgical populations. As a Registered Nurse on this unit, you will be a member of an interdisciplinary care team, providing holistic, comprehensive evidence-based care to meet the needs of individuals, families, and/or communities.

You will report to the Manager of the Medical Surgical Neurosciences Unit and work collaboratively with patients and their families, other nurses, and health team members throughout all stages of health and complexities of illness. Your leadership skills in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient/family care will be essential in promoting, maintaining, or restoring health, preventing illness, injury, and disability, or supporting a peaceful death.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient/family care
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Conduct thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans to address patient needs
  • Implement and evaluate care plans, making adjustments as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care delivery

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Program
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure by the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia
  • Minimum two (2) years of pediatric nursing experience, preferably in critical care settings
  • Recent orthopaedic experience and recent pediatric cardiac nursing skills are an asset
  • Current successful completion of CPR Level C Health Care Provider within the last 12 months required
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with families and other healthcare team members required
