Job Title: Staff Lawyer

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Lawyer to join our team at West Toronto Community Legal Services (WTCLS). As a Staff Lawyer, you will play a critical role in providing legal services to low-income individuals and families in our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and develop the clinic's social assistance practice, including ODSP, OW, CPP, EI, and OAS.
  • Maintain an active caseload and provide high-quality legal services to clients.
  • Supervise students and community legal workers, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
  • Participate in inter-clinic working groups on income security and associated projects, contributing to the development of new initiatives and strategies.
  • Deliver public legal education and outreach programs, promoting access to justice and awareness of legal rights and services.
  • Contribute to the overall functioning of the clinic, including participation in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO).
  • 1-5 years' experience in clinic practice, with a strong understanding of social assistance law and policy.
What We Offer:
  • An annual salary range of $85,000 – $89,500 per year, based on year of call.
  • A comprehensive pension plan and group benefits enrollment.
