Job Description

The Pharmacy Coordinator will assist pharmacists in properly dispensing medications to patients in a non-retail setting. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to effectively communicate with external and internal contacts.

Responsibilities
  • Provide exemplary customer service meeting the standards of MCKESSON Canada, primarily through phone and email interactions
  • Billing prescriptions through pharmacy software, ensuring all required documentation is adequate and appropriate, including accounts receivables, dosage, and dosing intervals, third-party billing restrictions, scheduled appointment dates, clinic locations, copayment management, coordination of benefits, assignment of benefits
  • Creating patient files in pharmacy software
  • Managing site calendars, appointment changes, dispensing, and shipping schedules
  • Accurately dispensing medications to ensure timely arrival to the appropriate destination
  • Patient follow-up calls for outstanding accounts (ensuring all medical questions are referred to a pharmacist)
  • Adherence to established Standard Operation procedures and all applicable regulatory requirements
  • Inventory management and reconciliation
  • Monitoring site temperatures when available and reporting any variances directly to the Operations manager
  • Effective communication with external and internal contacts
  • Developing and maintaining professional relationships with healthcare professionals, reimbursement coordinators, infusion coordinators, provincial ministries of health, and private payers
  • Accurate data entry into various systems
Requirements
  • Typically requires 3+ years of related experience
  • Experience in a retail pharmacy setting preferred
  • Understanding of 3rd party billing
  • Quick learner, adjusting quickly to a fast-paced environment
  • Clear communication (both written and verbal)
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Team player
  • Experience working with MS Office Suite
  • This position requires a significant degree of taking direction quickly, self-starting, and independence
  • Experience in Specialty pharmacy setting an asset, but not required
Compensation

We offer a competitive compensation package at MCKESSON as part of our Total Rewards. This includes a salary range of $41,000 - $68,400, which is determined by factors such as performance, experience, and skills. Additional compensation opportunities may also be available.
