We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Developer to join our team at Quantum Technology Recruiting Inc. (QTR). This is a 6-month remote contract position that offers an exciting opportunity to work with a revolutionary eCommerce technology company.

About the Role

This role involves designing, building, validating, and shipping high-quality product features with a keen sense of urgency, efficiency, and ownership. As a Senior Backend Developer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, data scientists, and peer engineering teams, to define project requirements and execution plans.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Ruby on Rails and be familiar with GraphQL, gRPC, Go, and/or React. They will thrive in a collaborative team environment, be proactive and self-sufficient, and enjoy constantly learning new technologies and skillsets.

We estimate this position's salary to be around $115,000 per year, based on industry standards for a Senior Backend Developer with similar skills and experience in the Eastern Time Zone region.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy web applications using Ruby on Rails
  • Maintain and update existing codebases, identify and fix bugs, and optimize application performance
  • Collaborate with front-end developers, designers, and other team members to integrate user-facing elements using server-side logic
  • Use version control systems, such as Git, to manage and track changes to the codebase collaboratively
  • Write and execute unit tests to ensure code quality, reliability, and maintainability
  • Document code and solutions, create and maintain technical documentation, and contribute to knowledge-sharing within the team
  • Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings
Minimum Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails – a must
  • Knowledge or experience with GraphQL, gRPC, Go, and/or React – very nice to have
  • Excited by constantly learning new technologies & skillsets
  • Ownership over systems that you work on – being proactive and self-sufficient is essential
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
