Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CPS Technician to join our team at Trillium Health Partners. As a key member of our Medical Device Reprocessing department, you will be responsible for the reprocessing of patient care equipment and instruments for use in surgery and other patient care areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and process contaminated/soiled equipment, instruments, and trays for reprocessing.
  • Clean and decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with established protocols.
  • Operate washer-disinfectors, cart washer, and sonic cleaner for decontamination of instruments and equipment.
  • Dismantle, clean, inspect, and reassemble equipment/instruments as necessary.
  • Ensure supplies/trays are wrapped correctly for sterilization and labeled with the appropriate sterilization tape.
  • Load, unload, and monitor the parameters of sterilizers.
  • Perform and document biological testing on all sterilization equipment.
  • Carry out all sterilization procedures and related duties in accordance with established standards.
  • Distribute supplies/trays to OR and other designated clinical areas.
  • Prepare surgical case carts for procedures following pick list protocol.
  • Replenish crash carts, intubation boxes, latex-free boxes, and contact precaution carts.
  • Assemble and test portable suction equipment.
  • Custom prepare special supplies as needed.
  • Respond to urgent requests from patient care areas.
  • Inspect and report damaged equipment and supplies to the Supervisor/Lead Hand.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance Audits and document results.
  • Document workload measurement statistics.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform all work in a safe and proper manner in accordance with Trillium Health Partners principles and protocols.
Requirements
  • Mandatory College certification in Sterile Supply Processing.
  • CSA certification or obtain within 1 year of employment.
  • Minimum grade 12 education and/or equivalent.
  • Experience with medical terminology an asset.
  • Minimum 1 year hospital work experience in sterile processing techniques and preparation of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
  • Positive work and attendance record essential.
