About the RoleThis is a key role supporting the entire Group Insurance Leadership team and their respective organizations. The incumbent will be responsible for developing the data strategy for the Group Insurance business, and the delivery and implementation of that strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Develop a data analytics roadmap for the business, collaborating with leaders across the organization to understand the current state and identify the target state.
- Design and implement reporting and business intelligence solutions using enterprise tools and platforms, leveraging leading practices to build and evolve reporting/BI solutions.
- Develop new analytics capabilities, collaborating with finance, actuarial, underwriting, distribution, and operational claims and administration teams to support the strategic growth and development of the Group insurance business.
- Build and expand expertise about data and data flows in the Group business applications and enterprise data platform(s), representing the Group business and sharing that knowledge with enterprise and technology teams.
- Partner with the enterprise Data Governance and Quality team to build and run processes, policies, and tools to oversee and manage Equitable's data, informing the overall direction of the Equitable data strategy.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and priorities, embedding data governance practices into daily operations to drive client impact.
- Define and track key performance indicators and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of data governance and quality programs, providing regular insights to senior management.
- Lead and guide a high-performing team of professionals who utilize a collaborative approach to achieve outcomes and deliver valuable interactions with partners/stakeholders.
- 10+ years of experience with a mix of business/data analytics, financial results, and profitability management, predictive analytics/data science, with a background in Group Insurance considered an asset.
- 10+ years of experience leading teams responsible for data management and analytics, with expertise in databases/data warehouses, data integration, and data modeling concepts and tools.
- Familiarity with data governance, data management, and data quality processes and techniques, with knowledge of coding/programming languages highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to influence and collaborate effectively across business functions and with external stakeholders/partners.
- Demonstrable track record of working cross-functionally with stakeholders to secure buy-in, creating accepted solutions, and working flexibly to accommodate changing priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely and present complex/technical concepts simply.
- Analytical mindset and problem-solving approach, with a focus on bridging the gap between business and technical teams from a data perspective.
- Experience leading, guiding, and coaching data teams with varying skill sets to deliver on established data objectives/outcomes.
