About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Systems Specialist to join our team at ABM Plumbing & Heating Services Inc. As an Apprentice Plumber, you will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of plumbing systems, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems.
  • Prepare tenders and quotations for plumbing projects, taking into account factors such as materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Instruct and mentor junior team members, sharing your knowledge and expertise to ensure the success of our projects.
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors, using precision and attention to detail.
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, ensuring a seamless and efficient installation process.
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, soldering, brazing, and welding equipment, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges, identifying and resolving any issues promptly.
  • Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing, taking into account factors such as flow rates, pressure, and temperature.
  • Estimate costs and materials for plumbing projects, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to the required shape and size, using precision tools and equipment.
Work Environment and Requirements
  • Work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment, with frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Handle heavy loads and work in confined spaces, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with a team of experienced professionals, sharing knowledge and expertise to achieve common goals.
  • Work a standard 40-hour week, with opportunities for overtime and professional development.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in the plumbing trade.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling.
