Job Title: Agile Developer DEVOPS

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Agile Developer to join our team at Nexus Systems Group Inc. as a DevOps Engineer - Mainframe Expert. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining distributed data pipelines using legacy platforms, including SAS and Mainframe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader client relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with peers across business lines, including key stakeholders in Commercial Banking, Retail Lending, Day-To-Day banking, and Small Business banking divisions.
  • Support, maintain, and enhance MIS Reporting solutions to meet business needs.
  • Design, develop, and maintain distributed data pipelines using legacy platforms, including SAS and Mainframe.
  • Effectively implement SDLC across the specification, design, build, test, and deployment phases of development, enabling Agile culture and facilitating Scrum and Kanban.
  • Understand how the client's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Create an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with client values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, ML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vision/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Candidate Requirements:

  • 8-10+ years of development experience.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in building data pipelines using tools like Mainframe/TSO (JCL/PROC, ISPF) and Mainframe SAS.
  • Expert knowledge of Mainframe (JCL/PROC) and SAS.
  • Previous exposure to Mainframe and SAS upgrades.
  • Previous exposure to data migration from Mainframe to other platforms (RDBMS).

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Exposure to MIS platforms, SQL-based analysis on RDBMS like SQL Server/Sybase/DB2/Oracle.
  • Experience in Atlassian Jira/Confluence, GIT, TFS/Azure DevOps is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Banking source systems, including Commercial Banking, Retail Lending, Day-To-Day banking, and Small Business banking, is an asset.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communications skills to facilitate meetings with various stakeholders, communicate ambiguous topics in a structured manner, and deliver presentations/demos.
  • Strong decision-making, forward-thinking, and creative problem-solving skills to anticipate and respond quickly to technological/market influences.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as work independently or with minimal direction.

Education:

Post-secondary degree in IT/Computer Science/Business Administration and relevant experience.
