Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Ottawa team. The successful candidate will provide support to project operations with emphasis on estimating, reporting, and monitoring progress and handling project changes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimating and Cost Management
    • Prepare detailed estimates of cost of materials, labour, and equipment for construction projects based on contract drawings/specifications, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.
    • Coordinate price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers, and architects regarding tenders.
  • Project Support
    • Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, tender hand-offs, project closings, and operational/sector meetings with various stakeholders.
    • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
    • Conduct material and equipment purchasing for secured jobs.
    • Update and maintain estimating database.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Post-secondary education in Engineering or Business/Commerce.
  • Experience
    • 1-3 years' experience in the construction industry.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).
