Senior Engineer, Hydraulics and Leak Detection Specialist

DNV is seeking a Senior Hydraulics and Leak Detection Engineer to join our team in the Hydraulics and Flow Assurance group. As a key member of our Advisory Services Department, you will be responsible for conducting leak detection studies for our clients, including determining appropriate leak detection technology, assessing and tuning existing systems, and analyzing new technologies for certification.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct leak detection and hydraulics studies using industry-standard software packages.
- Compile data from pipeline operators and decide on the most appropriate methodologies and calculations to solve issues.
- Audit and review existing pipeline facilities to identify improvement opportunities and potential problems.
- Work effectively with a team of engineers and consultants to review and verify each other's work.
- Engage in business development with new and existing customers.
- Model pipeline systems and associated facilities from upstream to downstream.
- Document processes and procedures in a technical format to deliver results and implications to pipeline operators.
- Direct a team of engineers through project management.
- Interact with clients in a professional and collaborative manner.
- Prepare technical papers or presentations on innovative work or projects.
- Attend technical seminars to increase understanding of the pipeline industry and new technologies.
- Train, mentor, and support junior engineers and co-op students.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university.
- Five to ten years of related experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, with excellent technical writing abilities and problem-solving skills.
- Minimum of five years' experience in leak detection and pipeline hydraulics.
- Expertise in single and multiphase pipeline hydraulic simulation, steady-state and transient hydraulic analyses using industry-standard software.
- Specific expertise in leak detection systems for liquid and gas lines.
- Ability to engage with clients to discuss DNV's services and strengths.
- Detail-oriented, self-driven, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate efficiently within a team and work independently.
- Ability to handle fast-paced environments with strong stress management skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.
- Master of Science in Engineering from an accredited university.
- Microsoft PowerPoint, macro, and VBA programming experience.
- Offshore pipeline hydraulics experience.
- Gas pipeline hydraulics experience.
- Multiphase pipeline hydraulics experience.
- Online pipeline modeling experience.
- Simulation-based leak detection experience.
- CFD simulation experience in flow assurance applications.
- Operational experience.
