Job Description

The Finishing Equipment Specialist is responsible for setting up and operating various finishing equipment, such as guillotine cutters, folders, stitchers, and booklet makers, under the direction of the Plant Supervisor.

This role includes making necessary adjustments and performing routine maintenance to ensure smooth operations and the delivery of high-quality output.

  • Follow job dockets accurately to ensure all job details are adhered to.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and inspections of bindery machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of materials, reporting any shortages promptly.
  • Ensure all required approvals are obtained before initiating or continuing production.
  • Adhere to the production schedule to meet established deadlines.
  • Promptly report significant machine issues to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect and verify the quality of all finished products to maintain high standards.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Keep detailed and accurate records of production runs and maintenance activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience operating bindery machines within a printing or packaging environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot machinery.
  • Keen attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to read and interpret job specifications and blueprints.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and other departments.
