Medical Leadership Position in Family Practice

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Medical Leadership Position in Family Practice to support the Department of Family Practice in the Western Zone. As a key member of the medical administrative structure, the successful candidate will provide service leadership and support to ensure that Network medical staff activities are consistent with the overall strategic and operational direction of the Department.
Responsibilities- Support the Zone Department Head in responding to physician network inquiries and providing contextual information about specific issues.
- Meet with the Zone Department Head on a regular basis to discuss network and departmental updates.
- Work in a co-leadership model with the Network Primary Health Care Manager to support activities associated with the implementation of the Health Home Model.
- Advise and assist the Zone Department Head in family physician recruitment and retention within the Network.
- Chair meetings of the Network Family Practice Council and maintain linkages with family physicians within the Network.
- Attend meetings of network physicians and liaise with regional hospital and CEC site leads as required.
- Assess minor complaints or SIMS reports concerning family physicians within the Network.
- MD with an interest in Medical Leadership and evidence of past and ongoing leadership training.
- Experience as a family physician.
