The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our Recreation Services team as Jr. Recreation Staff Students for the summer of 2024.

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience and skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a Jr. Recreation Staff Student, you will assist in various areas within Recreation Services, including camps, aquatics, and Play Pod programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist staff in daily operations and provide positive customer service
  • Support special event preparation and delivery tasks
  • Implement the philosophies of HIGH FIVE
  • Attend staff training sessions and meetings
  • Maintain program participation statistics
  • Enforce rules consistently and promptly
  • Follow policies and procedures in the CK REC Summer Manuals
  • Maintain qualifications and certifications
  • Provide customers with program information
  • Seek additional training opportunities
  • Assist with handling concerns
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in school full-time for the 2023/2024 winter term or returning to school full-time in the 2024 fall term
  • 14 years of age or older (16 years of age or older for some camp locations)
  • Transportation to and from various locations
  • Current Certification in Standard First Aid/CPR (WSIB approved)
  • Certified with the High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development
Work Environment and Hours

This position works both indoors and outdoors, with weekday hours, afternoon, evening, and weekend hours.
