Theatre Career Management Instructor

Job Summary
The University of Ottawa is seeking a highly qualified individual to teach a course on career management in theatre. As a Career Development Professor in Theatre, you will be responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive curriculum that covers the essential skills and knowledge required for a successful career in the theatre industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a course on career management in theatre, including topics such as budget creation, collective agreement negotiation, performer contracts, tax rules for self-employed artists, grant writing, and self-production.
- Provide students with a thorough understanding of the Canadian theatre industry, including knowledge of theatre companies, associations, and artists.
- Teach students how to develop a career plan, manage legal and financial affairs, and write successful applications for arts funding.
- Assess student learning and provide feedback on their progress.
Requirements
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Theatre studies or Professional Theatre School diploma.
- Five years of professional experience as the artistic or administrative director of a theatre company, festival, or educational organization.
- Teaching experience at the university or conservatory level.
- Thorough knowledge of career management and the Canadian theatre industry.
