Investment Portfolio Manager

As an Investment Portfolio Manager at Bank of Montreal, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients to retain and grow relationships. You will evaluate clients' personal and investment needs, creating investment policy statements, asset allocations, investment portfolios, and financial plans. Your goal will be to implement client strategies through the management of investment portfolios and ongoing evaluation of performance according to each client's investment policy statement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of clients to retain and grow relationships.
  • Evaluate clients' personal and investment needs and create investment policy statements, asset allocations, investment portfolios, and financial plans.
  • Implement client strategies through the management of investment portfolios and ongoing evaluation of performance.
  • Drive new sales results through referrals and personal network.
  • Work collaboratively in the branch and with regional teams to identify and make referrals.
  • Support the achievement of business development, revenue, referral, retention, and compliance targets.
  • Manage large and/or complex relationships and asset sizes.
  • Apply investment management expertise to communicate and implement investment strategies to clients' personal and financial situations.
  • Support the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment between stakeholders.
  • Monitor and track performance, and address any issues.
  • Design and produce regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
  • Oversee the implementation of client strategies, management of investment portfolios, and ongoing evaluation of performance.
  • Provide input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
  • Manage and continually enhance the client experience through strong relationship management.
  • Perform sales and service support activities to meet client needs and maintain overall service levels.
  • Identify new business opportunities and acquire referrals from existing book of business.
  • Implement business development strategies to acquire new business.
  • Follow through on the risk and compliance processes and policies.
  • Protect the Bank's assets and comply with all regulatory, legal, and ethical requirements.
  • Identify and recommend ways to enhance the client experience.
  • Provide specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support.
  • Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Work independently and regularly handle non-routine situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
  • Registered Investment Counsellor (IC) and/or Portfolio Management (PM) in the jurisdiction where operating.
  • In-depth/expert experience in discretionary money management for High Net Worth Individuals (HNW).
  • In-depth/expert business development experience with successful track record.
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.
  • Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth.

  • Influence skills - In-depth.
  • Data-driven decision making - In-depth.

Compensation: $68,000.00 - $126,000.00

Pay Type: Salaried & Commission

The above represents Bank of Montreal's pay range and type.

Bank of Montreal's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
