We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Tax Manager to join our team at Baker Tilly Ottawa LLP. As a key member of our tax services team, you will be responsible for providing excellent client service, ensuring all aspects of our clients' tax compliance needs are met, and providing clients with tax planning opportunities.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing tax filings prepared by staff to ensure all tax-related matters have been adequately addressed.
  • Offering tax planning services to clients.
  • Researching tax issues and preparing memoranda.
  • Identifying client service opportunities.
  • Participating in special engagements.
  • Enhancing existing and developing new community relationships and networks.
  • Managing staff in the tax group and providing daily guidance, coaching, and developing their tax knowledge.
  • Supporting and mentoring firm staff in respect of tax matters.
  • Preparing and presenting technical sessions for staff.

A successful candidate will have:

  • 3 – 5 years plus of progressive public accounting experience with a tax specialty and a professional designation.
  • Successful completion or in the process of completing the CICA In-depth tax course.
  • Sound technical knowledge of Canadian tax-related issues.
  • The ability to provide value-added service to our clients.
  • Good technical knowledge of GAAP requirements for tax provisions.
  • Computer skills including Caseware and Taxprep.
  • Strong understanding of a client-focused environment including related deadlines and the ability to work to meet those deadlines.
  • Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
