About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Engineer to lead a complex portfolio of work for a large municipal client in the Vancouver area. The successful candidate will provide technical input to standards, policies, and procedures, and act as a technical resource to staff throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex engineering, project management, and technical work.
- Manage budget administration, preparation, and reporting, ensuring effective and efficient expenditure of allocated funds.
- Interpret and apply technical guidelines, corporate policies, and project management procedures, ensuring work is undertaken in conformance with corporate standards and policies.
- Develop and provide input to technical standards, policies, and procedures, considering relevant design codes, specifications, and previous experience.
- Make decisions and recommendations on hiring engineering and technical consultants, overseeing work carried out by multi-disciplinary consultants and contractors.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or a relevant Engineering discipline.
- 8-10 years of recent related experience following professional registration, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Membership or eligibility for immediate membership as a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC).
- Extensive technical expertise and understanding of relevant engineering principles, including ability to interpret, apply, and advise others on engineering guidelines.
- Superior written and oral communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills, with ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, including leadership of project work and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to use judgment to resolve complex problems, take initiative, and work with minimal supervision, with ability to develop and revise procedures and plans to address problems and changing circumstances.
