The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Educator - Nursing Practice to join our team. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for assisting with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the clinical component of undergraduate nursing courses.
Key Responsibilities- Teach nursing competencies in the clinical practice skills labs
- Supervise students in a hospital or community health setting, assigning them to provide direct care to patients/clients
- Assess students' initial skill level and identify the need for teaching of new skills
- Monitor and evaluate students' skill performance to ensure that accepted practice standards are maintained
- Direct supervision and teaching of skills as appropriate to direct patient care in the clinical setting
- Attend orientation sessions at clinical sites as necessary
- Assist course leaders with the theoretical component of clinical coursework, such as grading required papers or delivering lectures
- Participate in team activities relative to planning, implementing, and evaluating the clinical component of the undergraduate program
- Undergraduate degree in Nursing and Registered Nurse with BCCNM
- Nursing licensure in British Columbia
- Master's degree in Nursing preferred
- At least two years of experience in a clinical position
- Strong clinical background in Adult Acute/Critical Care, Maternal/Child, Pediatrics, Mental Health, Gerontology, or Community/Population Health
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Teaching experience and/or a keen interest in teaching
This position is located within a health-care facility, and the successful candidate will be required to provide verification of full vaccination against Covid-19 prior to the start date, as required by a provincial health mandate.
Part-time FTE ranges from 0.30 to 0.80
