About the Role
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health Worker to join our team in Powell River, BC. As a Mental Health Worker, you will work with individuals with severe and persistent psychiatric illness, providing supportive counseling, demonstrations, and behavioral management to assist with the development of physical, social, emotional, and life skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide case planning and support to clients.
- Participate in interviews with clients to identify problems and needs, and work with clients and the Mental Health team to develop a treatment care plan.
- Act as an advocate to assist clients in resolving conflicts and other problems with external organizations.
- Observe client behavior and symptoms, provide feedback regarding client needs, performance, and progress.

Qualifications
- Diploma in Community Social Service or completion of Mental Health Worker program, plus two years recent, related experience working with individuals with severe and persistent psychiatric illness.
- Valid BC Drivers License. Local area travel may require the use of a personal vehicle.
- Valid CPR and First Aid certificates.
