Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Assistant/Clerk to join our team at Fraser Canyon Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in supporting patients with their rehabilitation therapies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with established rehabilitative activities, including retraining in activities of daily living (ADL) such as self-care, dressing, meal management, transfers, mobility, and application/removal of braces/splints.
  • Transport patients to and from rehabilitative therapies outside the facility by operating a bus and perform related clerical duties.
  • Prepare and apply modalities as directed by the therapist.
  • Under the direction of the therapist, instruct and demonstrate to patients the use of self-care aides, eating utensils, mobility aids, etc.
  • Assist in fabricating adaptive devices such as splints, slings, collars, heels, heel lifts, and wheelchair cushions.
  • Set up and organize furnishings and equipment for rehabilitation therapies as directed.
  • Clean and maintain established inventory of equipment, devices, and materials.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment and supply needs to appropriate staff.
  • Carry out established rehabilitative therapies outside the facility, such as walking programs and swimming, as assigned.
  • Participate in team meetings and care conferences and provide input regarding the development and evaluation of individualized care plans for assigned patients.
  • Document observations and care given on the health record and maintain other appropriate records/documentation as required.
Requirements
  • Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Class 4 Driver's license, as required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to teach.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
