Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Financial Operations Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will perform all general cost accounting and budgeting activities for assigned operational groups, including handling and scheduling financial activities within strict guidelines.
You will coordinate and develop operational unit budgets across multiple Fortis group companies, working closely with Business Leaders and Managers to assemble and analyze historical cost and activity data.
Your responsibilities will also include preparing and presenting regular performance and variance reviews, maintaining a current knowledge of applicable accounting and financial systems, and advising operational groups on the application of accounting and financial procedures.
In addition, you will participate in the development of recommendations to enhance or establish financial policies and procedures, reporting forms, and formats. You may also conduct research, special analyses, and prepare reports related to operational unit activities, unit costs, and programs.
This role requires strong organizational, oral and written communication, and presentation skills, as well as the ability to work effectively both independently and in teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Three (3) years directly related relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and related analytical techniques.
- Strong knowledge of computer systems operations, environment, and peripherals, and various applications software in use in the department (SAP, SharePoint, BW Reports, BI, and suite of MS Office products).
