We are seeking a highly skilled Policy Consultant to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a Policy Consultant, you will play a key role in leading teams through the policy process, ensuring alignment with our strategic direction and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide support and guidance to specific programs, teams, and/or healthcare providers on policy process in collaboration with policy team members.
- Maintain an awareness of trends and issues within Nova Scotia Health Authority and the healthcare system that pertain to professional practice and the care of the populations we serve.
- Ensure policies support our mission, vision, and values, and are not in conflict with existing professional and organizational bylaws, rules, and regulations, and policies.
- Utilize change management strategies to lead projects and initiatives within the policy office portfolio.
- Build capacity in Nova Scotia Health Authority for policy development practices by establishing and maintaining high standards of practice and demonstrating leadership.
- Baccalaureate degree in a healthcare field required.
- Master's degree an asset.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure with professional body where applicable.
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience in policy drafting in policies or procedures in an organization of significant size and/or complexity.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of evidence-based approaches to inform policy development, organizational planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Previous experience engaging, leading, and managing project work groups required; working respectfully and collaboratively to build consensus.
- Functions as a change agent by thinking reflectively, assessing alternatives and evidence, leading and supporting change.
- Successful completion of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (BLS) Program within the last 12 months, or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of the IWK Leadership Framework (LEADS).
