About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and optimization of complex data engineering projects. This will include working closely with cross-functional teams to identify business needs, developing technical roadmaps, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the development of large scale data pipelines and architectures
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop technical solutions
- Design and implement data governance frameworks to ensure data quality and integrity
- Develop and maintain documentation of technical designs and architecture
- Provide thought leadership and expertise in data engineering best practices
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on technical skills development
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in data engineering
- Work collaboratively with other teams to ensure seamless integration of data solutions
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 7-10 years of experience in data engineering with a focus on ETL pipeline development and at least 2 years working with Azure Cloud
- Extensive experience in data warehousing concepts and implementation
- Expertise in ETL and data movement, including relational and big data
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Experience with Production Support to investigate issues and resolution
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
- Ability to work cooperatively and independently as part of a Scaled Agile pod
- Strong expertise in one or more of the following: PySpark/Spark.Python (Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-learn) Scala/Java Azure, including: Azure DataBricks, Azure Synapse/SQL Server, Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Orchestration
- Full working experience in Source-code versioning/promotion tools, e.g. Git/Jenkins. Nexus
- Experience with Agile concepts and the Atlassian stack (JIRA, Confluence, Stash, GIT) and Jenkins/Nexus
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Microsoft Azure/Databricks certified preferred. Insurance, Banking and finance domain knowledge and working experience preferred.
