Job Summary

The Royal Bank of Canada is seeking a visionary Director of Site Reliability Engineering to lead the development and implementation of SRE solutions for all applications across a line of business. This individual will be responsible for driving technology transformation, collaborating with teams, and ensuring operational excellence and maximum platform stability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set the vision for SRE product-base, including chaos engineering, anomaly detection, and self-healing resiliency
  • Partner with development teams to ensure connectivity and shared objectives for building resilient and supportable platforms
  • Ensure maximum system availability and rapid remediation of issues, with a bias towards automated systems
  • Proactively manage and govern technology investment through a systematic metrics-based approach
  • Define License to Operate (LTO) and adherence to this standard to improve the soundness of the operating environment
  • Provide expertise, direction, coaching, and development to build the team's capability
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
  • Prior experience in supporting large-scale, enterprise-wide banking platforms
  • Extensive experience in various environments, including Cloud, distributed, and mainframe systems
  • Proven ability to manage vendor and 3rd party relationships to optimize services and ensure effective technology solutions
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership position with a track record of successfully managing complex enterprise environments
  • Hands-on experience in SRE languages and tools, including Ansible, Dynatrace, and PagerDuty
