Animal Care Specialist

As an Animal Control Officer with the Moose Cree First Nation, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of both community members and animals within our community. This position requires a high level of physical fitness, as you will be responsible for handling large animals such as dogs.
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team, providing protection to animal welfare within the community. If you have experience in animal control handling and are physically capable of handling large animals, we encourage you to apply.
Responsibilities- To provide day-to-day operations of animal control services, ensuring the safety and well-being of community members and animals.
- To assist authorities such as Police, Firefighters, and external pet agencies as required.
- To liaise with off-reserve organizations in assisting them in animal control measures on an as-needed basis.
- A high school diploma is preferred; however, relevant experience may be considered.
- Training in animal control handling is preferred.
- The ability to capture animals safely and handle them with care and diligence is essential.
- Physical capability to handle large animals, namely dogs, is necessary.
- The ability to work under minimal supervision is crucial.
- A valid Class G or G2 Driver's License is required.
- First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
We offer a permanent position with a 3-month probation period. A competitive salary package, including an estimated $50,000 - $65,000 per year, based on location and experience, is available.
