Overview

Our team relies on a dynamic and culturally diverse group of employees working in over 100 countries to deliver state-of-the-art loss prevention engineering and research, risk management skills, and support services to clients. To do so, we need a Consultant Engineer - Boiler and Machinery to perform on-site client visits, evaluate risks to boilers, pressure vessels, turbines, and other capital machinery, and provide consultative recommendations to minimize risks from associated equipment.

Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate hazards associated with boilers, machinery, and equipment while consulting with clients in Canada.
  2. Perform machinery risk assessments to evaluate risks to boilers, pressure vessels, turbines, and other capital machinery, as well as electrical equipment and utilities.
  3. Provide consultative recommendations to help minimize risks from associated equipment.
  4. Perform in-service jurisdictional inspections of boilers and pressure vessels.
  5. Work with minimal supervision, conducting office responsibilities from a home office, working independently, and being a member of a team.
  6. Travel to large, complex industrial client sites to evaluate operations and systems, identify risks and hazards, and make recommendations to minimize risks.
  7. Reside in the Greater Vancouver Area and work in Central and Western Canada, with occasional assignments throughout Western Canada.
  8. Hold a valid driver's license and be allowed to travel to the United States.

Qualifications

Skills and Competencies

  1. Proficiency in current technology, including software products, to analyze and document engineering recommendations and services.
  2. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Ability to effectively convey ideas to individuals and groups, including executives, plant managers, engineers, and technical personnel.
  4. Attention to detail, making engineering judgments, and accommodating internal and external customers' needs.
  5. Efficient time management with minimal supervision.
  6. Hold a valid driver's license and be allowed to travel to the United States.

Education

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

. license or be an Engineer in Training.

Member of the Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBA) or the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).

Experience

A minimum of 3 years of experience in the high-challenge industries and manufacturing domain with predictive and preventive maintenance practices.

Experience in the mining, pulp and paper, or power generation industry would be an asset.
