As a Prep Cook at Aspira Bolton Mills Retirement Living, you will play a critical role in our kitchen team. Your primary responsibility will be to prepare food and ingredients for our residents, ensuring that every dish meets our high standards of quality and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:- Set up equipment and supplies for food preparation, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Prepare food and ingredients according to standardized recipes, adhering to food safety standards and health regulations.
- Provide for prescribed diets, ensuring that food is prepared and served at the correct temperature and in portion-controlled quantities.
- Receive, check, and store food and supply deliveries, adhering to food safety standards and health regulations.
- Monitor the quality and quantity of food supplies, reporting any issues to the Cook or Chef on duty.
- Assist with the delivery, set-up, and removal of food for special events, buffets, and catered functions.
- Complete assigned cleaning tasks, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Minimum one year experience in volume food preparation, catering, and special event preparation in the hospitality or retirement residences industry.
- Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate.
- Good public relations and communication skills.
- Positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
- Ability to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for the majority of the shift.
- Smart Serve Certificate.
