Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Financial Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing periodic internal financial statements, accounting policy, and yearly external statements. This role requires strong technical leadership and guidance to department staff members and project teams to improve processes and enhanced financial reporting controls.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare reports, analysis, and information required by various stakeholders, including company business partners, internal auditors, and provincial auditors for year-end audit.
- Support periodic financial statement reporting for management teams and analyze the impact of results on the organization.
- Coordinate the implementation of accounting policies primarily related to specific areas of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Research latest policy developments and prepare IFRS position papers related to future accounting changes.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to department staff members and project teams to enhance financial reporting controls.
- Recommend improvements in reporting structure and requirements in accordance with IFRS and company's Future State Modernization (FSM) project.
- Work on various ad-hoc projects and operational activities, including participating in system upgrades, testing, and enhancements involving Finance-related systems.
- Proficient in Excel, Access, Oracle, and/or other ERP systems.
- Strong financial modeling skills and knowledge working with financial reporting systems, supporting periodic commentary for management decision-making.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities while employing financial analysis, reporting techniques, and best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with a proven track record of effective teamwork and collaboration.
- Ability to quickly adapt to change and build and sustain business relationships.
- A fast-paced self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results under tight timelines.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Canadian Professional Accounting designation CPA, CA preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in dealing with and applying IFRS/IASs.
- Experience with compliance and internal controls, such as ICFR.
- External reporting experience in the retail field, with the ability to draft external financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards.
Estimated Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
