Job Summary

As a Security Officer at Great Canadian Entertainment, you will play a vital role in protecting our assets and ensuring the safety of our guests and team members. This position requires a unique blend of security expertise, customer service skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and document internal and external violations, unsafe conditions, and potential hazards;
  • Enforce restricted access to unauthorized persons;
  • Observe transactions, slot drops, and chip fills, and transfer items to Lost & Found;
  • Perform identification checks on guests under 30;
  • Refer disputes to the Supervisor, Security;
  • Conduct regular patrols of the interior and exterior of the property as assigned;
  • Escort guests and team members;
  • Perform crowd control as directed;
  • Attend to first aid incidents;
  • Assist the Supervisor, Security with enrolling guests in the Self-Exclusion program;
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and other statutory regulations;
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, post-secondary education an asset;
  • Two (2) years of experience working with the public in a service role or in the service industry;
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities;
  • Previous experience or training in security an asset;
  • Occupational First Aid Level 2 considered an asset;
  • Serving it Right Certification;
  • Inquisitive, investigative mind, able to identify suspicious behaviors/transactions and make sound judgments based on this;
  • A willingness to learn, develop, and achieve new skills for personal and professional development;
  • Computer literacy in MS Office;
  • Able to organize data with great accuracy;
  • Knowledge of privacy legislation an asset;
  • Self-motivator and ability to inspire other team members in enhancing the guest experience within the entertainment business;
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize;
  • Ability to follow rules, regulations, policies, and procedures at all times;
  • Must be able to work independently, without close direct supervision, and apply good judgment and discretion under pressure;
  • Ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License.

Work Environment Considerations

  • Regular casino/Racing environment, standing and walking for long periods of time, and non-traditional work hours;
