About You

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Field Emission Technician to join our team at Montrose Environmental Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing day-to-day inspections of components in our Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) Program.

A Day in the Life

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and caring for their monitoring equipment, as well as overall maintenance of the LDAR inventory. Key duties include:

  • Participating in and promoting a safety culture
  • Using Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) cameras to detect emissions and various technologies to quantify them
  • Completing comprehensive Job Safety Analysis at their jobsite
  • Maintaining and using all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Assisting in coordinating and navigating to various facilities with maps and GPS
  • Performing and documenting calibration of monitoring instruments as required
  • Receiving handheld devices and ensuring information is accurate, where applicable
  • Complying with all permit and sign-in procedures for the site
  • Performing and documenting field inspections accurately, safely, and efficiently
  • Documenting on leak tags completely and accurately for all leaks found
  • Documenting and reporting any tag maintenance and inventory discrepancies found in the field
  • Documenting Management of Change and assisting to maintain the accuracy of field inventories
  • Performing and documenting drift assessments, where applicable
  • Ensuring job sites are clean and free of any materials
  • Participating in training for career development, safety, and maintaining required certifications
  • Performing any other duties assigned by client or project manager(s)

Education Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Diploma/Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Petroleum, Process, Chemical, and Instrumentation) from an accredited College or University. Knowledge and experience with LDAR-related hardware and tools are considered an asset.

Years of Experience

The successful candidate will have 1+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with a preference for those with experience in the LDAR Program.

Systems

The successful candidate will have experience with Workday and LDAR database software programs, as well as proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel.

Licensures/Training Requirements

The successful candidate will hold a valid Driver's License with a clean abstract and have completed First Aid, CPR, H2S Alive, TDG, and WHIMS training.

Safety/Drug Screening

The successful candidate will be capable of passing background checks and initial and random drug screening, as well as able to climb stairs, ladders, and work from heights.

Travel

The successful candidate will be able to travel across all provinces as well as the US.

Soft Skills

The successful candidate will possess excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills, as well as the ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently, managing multiple responsibilities, are also essential.
