About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Legal Counsel to join our team at Mattr. The successful candidate will be based in either Ohio or Toronto, Ontario and will provide legal counsel on a wide range of commercial and strategic priorities.

The role involves providing prompt and effective legal advice, including negotiating support, through all phases of the manufacturing and contracting cycle. This includes supply chain and commercial sales. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide legal advice and support on commercial contracts required by internal business support groups, touching on areas of law including Human Resources, HSE, Technology and Innovation, Regulatory, Real Estate and Finance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide expert legal advice and support on commercial contracts, supply chain and sales negotiations.
  2. Liaise with internal business units to deliver commercially relevant legal advice.
  3. Develop and implement business-oriented legal strategies to deal with client concerns.
  4. Support M&A activities and manage litigation files, including liaison work with external counsel.

Requirements

  • A Law Degree and called to the bar in a U.S. or Canadian Jurisdiction.
  • 4 - 6 years of experience in commercial contract drafting and negotiation.
  • M&A experience and strong litigation management skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, analytical and strategy skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

About the Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
