Warehouse Laborer Job Description

The Warehouse Laborer plays a vital role in the daily operations of the warehouse. This position involves handling goods, operating machinery, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receiving and Unloading:
  • Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments of goods.
  • Verify the accuracy of shipment contents against purchase orders and packing lists.
  • Report any discrepancies or damaged goods to the supervisor.
  • Sorting and Storing:
  • Sort and store materials or products in designated areas.
  • Ensure that items are properly labeled and stored to prevent damage and ensure easy retrieval.
  • Order Picking and Packing:
  • Accurately pick products according to order slips and prepare them for shipping.
  • Pack orders efficiently and securely to prevent damage during transit.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Assist in conducting regular inventory counts and audits.
  • Report any discrepancies or shortages to the inventory control team.
  • Assist in the organization and cleanliness of inventory areas.
  • Loading and Shipping:
  • Load outgoing shipments onto trucks or other transportation vehicles.
  • Ensure that all shipments are securely packed and documented.
  • Equipment Operation:
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform regular checks and maintenance on equipment as needed.
  • Safety and Cleanliness:
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
Qualifications:
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform manual labor for extended periods.
  • Experience:
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or similar environment is preferred but not required.
  • Skills:
  • Basic math skills, attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, and strong organizational skills.
  • Certification:
  • Forklift certification (if applicable) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Work Environment:
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, as warehouses may be hot or cold.
