About the Role

We are seeking a visionary and experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead the Rupertsland Institute in achieving its mission to enhance the self-sufficiency and well-being of Alberta Métis through quality education, training, and research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive the Institute's growth and success.
  • Provide leadership to the Senior Management Team and administrative divisions, ensuring effective management of budgets, policies, processes, IT systems, and human resources.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including the Board of Governors, government agencies, and Indigenous communities.
  • Ensure the Institute's programs and services are responsive to the needs of Métis clients and aligned with the Institute's vision and mission.
  • Develop and implement annual work-plans or operational plans to meet the measurable goals of the Institute's business plans and key performance indicators.
  • Represent the Institute at various forums and events, promoting its mission and values.
Requirements
  • Post-Secondary Degree in Management, Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, or related studies.
  • Minimum 10 years of proven experience in senior management or executive leadership role, ideally in a non-profit, post-secondary, or Indigenous organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Métis Nation of Alberta and/or Otipemisiwak Métis Government, Métis governing structures, and their objectives.
  • Deep understanding and experience in all operational areas of responsibility, including Finance, Accounting processes, Human Resources, IT, and other Corporate Services and Administration.
